Prompt #2: A letter to the principal

Dear Ms. Kartridge,
As a student of Copepod High, I believe field trips to be a beneficial to the student faculty. The first reason being that the students gain knowledge through an interactive teaching method. Second, the teaching faculty is supervising, so the chances of a student’s disappearance are slim to none. Third, and foremost, a field trip is not a day to skip of school, but rather a day where students learn outside of school.
Many of the members of both the student and teaching faculties believe that a field trip is a free ticket for a student to leave school. This belief is false. A field trip is normally educational during school hours. I have personally attended a fieldtrips during school, but all of them proved to be beneficial to a student’s education. These fieldtrips included college campus seminars, college fairs, museums, and observatories. In addition, our school’s fieldtrips are both free and educational. However, the student’s education always comes first, which is why in order to attend a field trip a student must have the teachers consent. A student who misses a class session to attend a field trip must contact the teacher via email in order to receive that day’s assignments (Article 5, Section VII, of the student conduct code).
For the most part, fieldtrips in our school are educational. The students do not get randomly dropped off in some secluded area where no supervisor is around. The first rule that comes with field trip consent is that there be multiple supervisors who are responsible for the students going on the trip. One may wonder, how do they know who is on the bus? Or how can a teacher tell if a student is gone? The answer to these questions is simple: a student list. One every bus, there is a supervisor assigned to a specific group of students. Each supervisor is handed a list with the students’ names on it. With this list the one in charge is able to determine who’s on their bus. However, to make sure, the supervisor I obligated to count all the people on the bus, and recoding their information of the current attendees. This system has proven to work for fieldtrips thus far and will continue serve well in the upcoming years.
What exactly do students learn in their fieldtrips? The true question is: What don’t students learn on fieldtrips? As a student, I know I have absorbed quite a bit of knowledge from attending these trips. Although the topics range, from college information to a variety of historic facts, they did benefit each student in a different way.  In fact, it was through one of these trips that I was inspired to take a profession in the engineering field and attend a university that offered engineering as a major. For this reason, I truly appreciate the privilege students from our school have to in order to attend events that will not only be interesting, but beneficial to their future.
Overall, not only are field trips beneficial to students, but coordinated in an organized manner. Eliminating a system as organized as this one would be a major loss for our school. Since, most of our remaining trips are funded by outside college programs, the cost is not something to fret over. In fact, they will help the majority of the students find a career path that will increase the school’s already successful reputation.
 Sincerely,
Amiri Hammy

What kind of doctor am I...

I once considered the profession of being a doctor. The title "doctor" would make a person feel important. Now if this profession would be my passion I would take the role of an eye doctor. I would do what my eye doctor does. First, I'll have the patient get eye test with my nurse. There the patient would see different technology, including the eye puffer. I loathe this gadget now. but as a doctor I would laugh inside when I see patients suffering through what I suffered once before. Once the patient is done with the test, they would be sent to me. I would perform the eye tests, ask the patient the common questions, and if necessary I would give them a new pair of glasses or contacts. I would feel high and mighty with my white coat, even though I am but an eye doctor. Now this is never going to happen, but being an eye doctor is less bloody and painful to me. This is in comparison to other professions in the medical field, most of which require seeing blood and hearing annoying sounds from their patients.

20 Feet Tall

I live as a giant. I do not sleep in a room with the rest of my siblings. I am forced to sleep on a special custom made mattress in the living room. Why must I be so tall? It's hard to avoid stepping on people because they are so tiny. I have a hard time finding food to fill me up. In fact, everything in the cafeteria is not enough for my stomach. I know I am costing my parents alot of money, but after the record as the tallest person in the world, I have made their life slightly easier. Now I have my own custom food, clothes, and school supplies creators. I do not like being tall! It's difficult to use the restroom at school, so I have to use it in a special secluded area in Inglewood High School. I do not feel normal. I have friends, but only the short ones sympathize with me. I see a dog my size. I am not alone! It is so cute and furry. It shall be mine! I then feel slobber run into my inerts. I see myself shrinking. What's wrong with me! I hear a faint knock in the distance. Who is it? It keeps knocking, but this time its louder. I then hear the words "Wake Up!" In my mind this does not seem right. Was I not tall? Where am I? I open my eyelids and wake up to my normal morning routine. I look around and everything is not small, it is just right. For the first time in my life I am glad that I am short.

This inflatable bear is 20 ft. tall.

The Baby Dragon

In current times, dragons have yet to make an appearance. The reason for this was because they do not like the human species after the incident with the baby dragon. Who was this baby dragon? and what made it so special? The majority of the human species does not even know of this information. It is kept confidential amongst historians. The head of the secret historian union is none other than C.H. Collins.
How do I know all of this? Well, that's quite simple, I am acquainted with this C.H. Collins. In fact, it took me three years for C.H. to convince the union in order to tell me about the dragons. Why would they tell me all of this? It is all due to a discovery I had in my backyard. I was your typical middle class working type. I held success in the architecture department and I was proud of it. I did not go all those years in college for nothing. I must admit, the discovery  forever changed my life.
I was on my way to work one morning, when I see this rock moving in my backyard. The first thing that crossed my mind was mutant rock. I kept seeing it shake, so I went inside my car to protect me. It would not stop. Just then, I hear a cracking noise. In my mind it is but an earthquake. I look around and nothing shakes except for that one rock. I pay close attention to the rock and notice that it is not a rock, there is something coming out of it! I crouched in the driver's seat due to fear. The noise stops. I emerge from my seat to see what had happened. In viewing distance I see a red baby dragon. I look at it and immediately think of Super Junior's maknae Kyuhyun. (Maknae is a Korean term meaning the youngest boy in a group).
I decide to adopt the baby dragon under the name Kyuhyun. It was a truly enjoyable experience. The dragon itself was not mischievous, in fact it was more obedient than my pet dog. I called my friend C.H. Collins, because I was not sure if dinosaurs were capable of still existing. Through out the phone call, she was puzzled by why I would ask such questions. I had to blurt it out. Those words "I have one" are words that I have regretted since. We ended the phone call with an agreement that she would come over my house the next day.
I was on the couch, anxiously waiting for her feedback, since she is a historian. Once she came we sat down to talk about dragons. What she told me where only the myths that I've heard of many years ago. I then demanded her to tell me about the history of dinosaurs. She said she couldn't. I wanted an answer, so I asked a simple "Why?" That was when she told me about the historian union. She told me that the information is kept confidential, so she could not tell me. After that, I asked her if I can have some sort of consent in order to know this information. She said yes, and that it would take one year. She was left with the duty of convincing the union council members.
As it turns our, she lied to me. It takes three years on average to get permission from the council. I patiently waited, and as time passed Kyuhyun grew. In fact, Kyuhyun grew up to 6"2 feet in those three years. She came back with a summary of the dragon history database. She handed me the document and left. As I read it, I found that humans and dragons once used to live amongst another. Everything was okay until rumors were created to make dragons seem evil. It was all a myth, none of it true, but the foolish humans believed it and began to hunt all dragons down. According to the document, there was only one dragon family that survived and that was Kyuhyun's great grandfather. Every now and then, dragons are discovered just as I have discovered mine, though not all owners are nice. In fact, all of them sold their dragons to scientists for experimental research. All experiments failed, thus killing the poor dragons.
I made a vow that day and that vow was to keep Kyuhyun. I did not care for money, I already made some at work. All that mattered to me was his safety. This vow was a true challenge for me.
It turns out that once I told C.H. about the dragon, every scientist and media person either wanted to dissect him of have an interview with me. I could not take it anymore. The fire in me did not care where I lived, I even tried to run over reporter. They are quick individuals, I guess they are used to it. I decided to move into the woods, and I have been happy ever since. No reporters, no scientist, no historians, just my family and my pets. Even Kyuhyun enjoys his new home now. I still work in the city, the only difference now is that I need to wake up early to drive there. I would fly on Kyuhyun, but I do not want him to risk his safety.

What I am good at...

If there's one thing I am good at it would have to be improvement. To be honest, my skills began to progress last year. I was granted teachers who were experienced and willing to help me, but I was a lazy procrastinator. It was not until I was in Mr. C's class that I began to pay close attention to all my flaws, and how I could improve them. On the side note, if one tries to procrastinate in Cain's class, they are up to a definite work load of a challenge.
In his class, I began to understand myself as an individual and what areas I really needed to focus on. His teaching methods were hidden within the assignment itself. I was a weak individual before I had him. As an individual, I broke out of my previous shell and became a stronger individual willing to destroy my flaws and perfect them. This step, of course, takes progress since no individual is truly perfect.
Now everything is not a challenge. I am willing to take criticism, since I know my work is not perfection. The "work load" in senior year is not as hard as it was back then. In fact, Mr. C an Mr. B were the teachers that gave us a workload junior year, and I had both of them. Today I am proud to say I have improved and am still improving. This a fact, since at this moment I am balancing six course in high school, including ECC classes, and actual classes at El.Co. The workload now is not as rigorous as it was back then.

My Sandwich

If I were to make a sandwich I would make it to appeal all the regions of my palette. I would use a baguette as the base bread for the sandwich. In the actual sandwich, there would be diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and olives. The meats would be an Italian ham, pepperoni, and prosciutto (a salty, thin Italian ham). For flavor, I would not use mayonnaise and mustard because I want the ingredient to feel light. The purpose of this sandwich is to feel light, not heavy, so mustard and mayo are out. Instead of these ingredients, I would use a red wine vinaigrette. It's tangy, yet appealing to the palette. Now a sandwich can not be a sandwich with out cheese. If I had the choice on what cheese to put in there it would be a mixture of cheddar and mozzarella. There would be three slices - two mozzarella and one cheddar. I want to start the sandwich with the creamy lightness of the mozzarella, then I want to work into the the sharp cheddar to wake up my palette. The finale would be a symphony of serenity, as I work my way into the end, where the mozzarella awaits. I love this sandwich, even if I have not had it. The different flavors are truly pleasing, that is unless a person is finicky with the ingredients I put in the sandwich. If there are picky people, I would just not feed my sandwich, I will not waste such a masterpiece on a such an inconsiderate individual.

My Superpower

If I were to be a superhero I would have bear powers, including super strength, bear-like reflexes, and  super roars. My identity would be Ted Abear, and I would be half bear and half human. My abilities would be gained through an accident in my backyard. I would look for my necklace and be struck by lightning, thus giving me my powers. T - San and I would get revenge toward my father for killing our parents. It would be a quest of revenge, but we would gain experience. Although, we would have to split up to find information on our parents. On the quest for information, we both find out my father was responsible. This discovery led to our reunion. My father, of course, weakened my abilities with a bear ray gun. T - San came to my rescue, and even managed to kill my father. In the end we made a great team, we defeated the person who killed our parents and were reunited as partners against crime. Ah yes, wouldn't that be a marvelous experience.

I won something!

I was a lucky child, always winning the raffles my mother entered me in. However, my most memorable winning would have to be the time I won a tall ceramic woman for my mother. I was 7 years old, and I wanted to give my mother the perfect birthday present. However, since I was I child I did not have an allowance. I tried to save up money, but the temptation of buying snacks was too high. How I craved those sweets!
The lack of mental strength against junk food lead me to apply into a church raffle. My mother's friend was in charge of it, and when my mother asked me if I wanted to enter it my answer was a definite "Yes!" I knew I was lucky, but I did not know how much. I was patiently hoping that I would win something worthy of my mother. I knew that the prizes ranged from a food basket to a couple of t shirts. I wanted to desperately win!
Over the next week, I began to think of the raffle as a rip off. We had not even been informed of who won and the deadline passed days ago. I began to worry. What if I actually lost this time? That same day, my mom received the item I won at the raffle. It was not until I got home, that I realized I won something, and it was perfect! There it was, a tall ceramic woman, dressed in spring clothing, wrapped in clear cellophane, and topped off with a bow.
This was it! It was the perfect birthday present for my mother. She had seen it earlier, but she though I was going to keep it. I made her believe hat, when in reality I hid the prize in the closet. The challenge of waiting, was patience. I could not be patient when I knew my mother would be happy with the present I would give her. I was anticipating her smile and her thank you hug, thus proving to me that I had done a good job.
When her birthday came, I ran to the closet. I ran so fast, that I felt the wind in my house press against my face. I nearly hurt myself in the closet, trying to find that prize. When I found her, I gave her to my mom (her refers to the "she" that the ceramic represents). My mom responded exactly as I had imagined, she was grateful, gave me a bear hug, and a kiss on my forhead. I was proud that I managed to follow my pan though. I was happy with the outcome.

Which Family Member I Would Choose...

If I can choose one member of my extended family to spend the day with it would have to be my grandfather on my mother's side. The reason for my decision is simply because I did not get to spend enough time with him when I visited Mexico. I want to have the wise talks similar to those I had with my grandmother, except this time I can converse with him. He looks like a nice and carefree individual who will treat me as a granddaughter. After having talks with my uncle, mother, and grandmother about their past, I was tempted to talk to him. The only thing that stopped me was the fast the I was short and he was tall. Overall, my day would be filled with happiness, food, joy, and conversations about our pasts. I want to get to know my grandfather better.

Visiting the Moon

As a visitor to the moon, I would claim the moon as my property. I would first purchase the moon from whoever it belongs to, but if it is not anyone's I shall take my place as the owner of the moon. I would live there, if I had enough oxygen an technology to survive there. Then, I would build my own house because the moon owner definitely needs a place to survive there. My next plan would be to have a concert on the moon. I would negotiate with SM entertainment and have them send Super Junior, SHINee, and TRAX to the moon to entertain me. I would invite the Alice and T-San because I know they would want to see these Korean pop stars with me. We would have our crazy fan girl moments and take lots of pictures. Once the concert ends, we would all go on a voyage to Earth together in a spaceship. The spaceship would have to be tremendous, since it has to hold T-San, Alice, Super Junior, SHINee, TRAX, and me (that's alot of people). To summarize this story, I would have to have alot of money in order to go to the moon to:
1. own it
2. live in it
3. have a concert there.
and
4. purchasing a spaceship.

Earning money at 16 years old

Based on repetitive statements, I know the minimum age to work is 16 and a half. That being said, people my age have a variety of jobs ahead of them. Kids my age can get jobs as interns (if they have experience), babysitting, selling snacks at school, and work part time. However, it is not easy finding a job unless you have connections or the company is desperate to find a replacement for a fired employee. Now a days, there are even teen job search programs. I do not know much about the job experience, since I do not have one. My knowledge is only acquired through my observations and repetitive statistics.

My Favorite Season

When it comes to seasons there is no other like fall. Fall is the time when the weather is cold but pleasing. Unlike Summer, Fall is cold, rainy, and at times it can be warm. During this season, my favorite activities are sleeping, spending time with the ones I love indoors, and eating lots of warm food. As a hamster, I like to hibernate, so I store my fat for warmth and I sleep with warm clothing and two thick blankets. The silence, serenity, and peace  that come with fall can be scary after an energetic summer, but after a while one gets accustomed to it. I love the Fall and all of the changes that come with it. The death of Summer during Fall brings forth a new beginning - a new year for change.
