The Importance of Mathematics

Math is a required subject in schools today, but why. Many students fail to gain an inspiration to achieve math majors, so what makes it so important. Well, everything. In life you cannot live without learning some sort of counting system. In fact, one needs simple arithmetic skills to survive later on in life. Why? As adults, we would all be required to pay bills, so simple counting, adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying skills can be to put to good use. Now if you are in expert in higher math levels, you can create an equation that would solve the problem easier. Not to mention, the fact that math develops a problem solving ability in all individuals. In fact, everything in life is some sort of math. I you look at it from a larger perspective, math follows you through statistics, cars, and in building. We all need math to survive. We need to calculate distance, measure gravity, height, weight; all of these things are math. One’s clothing size, shoe size, all of it math. The cost of a television, a laptop, and a cell phone – all are math. As humans, we all have to use math at one point or another, even if your are not in current civilized society there are measurements, paces, and survival techniques that require some form of simple math. Math is everywhere. We cannot escape its grasp. We are individuals that are in a world of measurements, latitudes, longitudes, and degrees – all are math. We can escape it on our own planet. It surrounds us. We face degrees in cooking, baking, bathing; all of these are some form of math. We are a civilization that cannot live with some sort of math, which is why it is a requirement in all schools.
